Well – I think you have waited long enough. I couldn’t even begin to tell you what has kept me from the computer for the last week —- even I don’t know. 😉
At long last, here is the yarn I bought in Alaska.
5 skeins of Elsebeth Lavold Silky Tweed in burgundy : destined to become Anais
2 skeins of Artyarns Ultramerino4 in a brown and pink/orange/red mix : becoming Picot Edged Monkeys . This yarn is like butter! I will be buying more and I am really glad I swerved left from my colour preference because I am liking these colours a lot.
I had to get this kit. I love Ravens. The yarn is handspun in Sitka. The colours are perfect. Silk. Roving.
A Thrummed Mitten kit. (pattern not in picture — not sure why…)
Ooooh it is going to be so cozy!
I realize it looks like I was the picture of restraint. Well – had I known I would not be finding the yarn I was hunting for (enough Alpaca for Chantal in a rich, deep purple. Sigh.) Iwould have bought a lot MORE yarn. Though, my plodding approach to FO’s really doesn’t allow for more stash…I would have added in a big way if I’d known.
Aaannnnnndddd I won a contest over at Meowfish Pie Knits! I guessed the exact date her little boy will be joining her family – so exciting for them.
She sent me this incredibly beautiful yarn.
It’s a sportweight and must be something more than a plain jane accessory — any suggested patterns? I could surf Ravelry but if you saw the length of my queue already…it’s safer if I take suggestions. That’s what I’ll tell myself at any rate.
Ummmm speaking of contests…I have had not one guess for my Contest. 😦 I could have sworn there were more Sci-Fi watching knitters out there. Kinda like The Truth. (as in: The Truth is out there). If that doesn’t help the names of my cats might.
Here’s the rundown of the contest again:
CONTEST: I took the photo from the wrong side. Curses.This has got to be the all time funniest moment that was certainly not meant to be funny. Just follow the link and if you know whose hand that is and from what program…it might just win you a prize in honour of Socktoberfest! If there is more than one correct answer I will draw names. Leave your guess in the comments. 😀 (Unless that is you in the mock photo!) {ohhh maybe you Can play!}}
Come out and play Sci Fi-Sleuthing knitters! 1/2 answers count. Name the the person or name the show.
I know I not right but I keep pulling towards Adams family. Because it looks like a disembodied hand. 😛
I watched so many different shows they blend….. *crosses eyes*
Is it Data’s hand from Star Trek TNG?
(I totally missed the contest part of your last post! That’ll teach me to skim!)
I am going to take a stab at this even though – and you will hate me for this – I hate Sci Fi. My husband can watch it, I cannot….but in taking a guess I am going to guess………….Star Trek.
Sp Agent Mulder’s?
I was sure i’d entered this… i don’t know why, but for some reason i think this is Lore, Data’s brother. ( star trek tng)
Those yarns are gorgeous! I’m hoping to buy some alpaca myself at the Cowichan Fleece and Fibre fest this weekend
Hey michelle, I’m guessing I can’t win your contest but I’ll guess the x-files(haha). Which is suppose to have a new movie coming out in 09, how exciting would that be. Sorry if I have ruined your contest. But debbie would love to knit me some socks. LOL
Not really a sci-fi fan, but if that’s the clue then I also have to go with Data from Star Trek.
I’m too late even if I’m right, but I agree with JD that it’s The X-Files. The cat names were the giveaway.
michelle…..
I’m CRYing in my CHEXs cereal that no one has answered your question.
some are getting close though.
Alex Kryjeck is the name of the one armed man.
It’s Agent Alex Krycek from the X-Files — and I agree, that was the most unintentionally hilarious X-files moment EVER. (I immediately wondered whether he had to pinch the little prosthetic fingers together to get them to hold the tea strainer — and if so, wouldn’t it just have been easier to use his other hand?)
I haven’t a clue and I love SciFi. My memory must be going.
I’m not a sci-fi gal, but I did watch Star Trek: The Next Generation for a while and although that is the colour of Data’s hands, it looks more fake than his did. So I’m going with a X-files character guess. I don’t know what one though since I never watched the show. I do know Mulder is a character on the show though.
Oh, and fabulous yarns!
It’s Data’s hand from Star Trek, no doubt about it!
I also highly suggest making a lovely Claptois from Knitty with that yarn you won.
I happen to be wearing a pair of my own hand-knit Art yarn Ultramerino socks right now! They are thick and comfey! You will love this yarn. The socks knit up so quickly too.
Dr. Who?
Nice haul! :o)
Yummy, that’s some yarn goodness that you got in Alaska – gorgeous!
As for the contest – oy, I’ very bad when it comes to SciFi, really. Actually I have no idea – as usual 😉 I’d say Star Trek – but who???? *bowing her head in shame*
