What a month this has been!
I apologize for the silence here and at your respective blogs.
Do these pictures help explain things?
(not that I can explain that glowing finger…)
In the middle of July we received the shocking news that we had to move, after 8 years in the same lovely home. The 3 weeks of sadness, stress and unsettled-ness that followed didn’t allow me any time to invest online (except for games on Facebook – somehow those weren’t neglected).
There are some big changes ahead – my Mom is moving 6 hrs away! I think it is going to be a really good move for her but I am really going to miss her and so is Kira.
She’s snuggling me because she knows how Mom feels about photos of herself – that and I need more snuggles these days.
The good news is that somehow, in this overpriced and pet-hostile market, I found a fabulous place for me and Kira and 2 of our kitties — the 3rd is going with Mom to Merritt — and my innumerable fish (yep still having babies!) and plants.
We’re heading out there tomorrow, it’s in the aptly named: Paradise Valley, and I promise to take photos for the blog!
Since my last post there has been travel, camping, a new baby (congrats Heather & Brian!) MOVING for a reno at work (lots of fun packing with 16 kids and next to no notice! but that’s a story to be filed away under: Best Forgotten), househunting, culling, packing, culling, a garage sale, a goodbye luncheon and still more culling and packing to go!
Somehow, there has been some knitting during that time — no records have been set but…still there is progress. See?
Yes – the same sock. Not onto the 2nd sock yet. Honestly. It’s going to be some world record if/when that sock becomes a pair! It’s been deadly slow at work but…I have become hooked on those word game magazines. They don’t get tangled up in purse straps and…I don’t resent their interruption (much) by questions or phone calls – both of which I seem to be getting a lot of these days.
Ophelia is much farther along than this picture shows – she is quite lovely. Despite the fact that the last 3 balls of yarn that I have, of this discontinued yarn I might add, are distinctly more beige than off-white, I have carried on knitting as is – and am 2.5″ away from completed arm holes — does that even make sense? Completed holes. Hmmm.
I’ll be figuring out a way to dye the finished product because my eagle eyes did not notice the glaring contrast in shades while knitting during the Olympics. And after 3.5″ of lace work in beige, I couldn’t bear the thought of another online hunt for discontinued yarn or of ripping back the whole thing. This might be one of those things the Yarn Harlot has mentioned in the past – about knitter’s continuing to believe despite all evidence to the contrary, that things are going to work out. Ah well.
I believe!

I am SO relieved for you, that you’ve found somewhere – it’s hard to do at the best of times, but even harder, I think, with pets.
Can’t wait to see your new Paradise…
and really? You had to pack at work at the same time??!! That’s just not right…
I’m certainly glad you clarified that was a glowing finger!!!
I believe too! You could overdye with tea, if you like tan/brown. Sorry your life’s been so stressful! Hang in there!
I think things will work out too!
It will all work out, I have faith! :0) Just keep breathing!
i so glad youfound somewhere to take your babies, its always hard. enjoy your new place and sorting out all your stuff just so.
Culling and packing. I can relate!
Best wishes in your new home. A fresh start can be nice. Will you paint?
Need your email girlfriend. Seems the one I have isn’t updated.
